GS1 RUS is the sole official representative of GS1 in the Russian Federation and as such administers the GS1 System at the national level.

GS1 is a world-wide not for profit organization dedicated to improving the efficiency and visibility of supply and demand chains, globally and across sectors. The GS1 System of products and solutions includes a diversified portfolio of international standards – the most widely used standards system in the world. GS1 operates in more than 20 industries and sectors, enabling over a million companies in 150 countries to execute more than five billion transactions a day.

GS1 presently comprises 108 Member Organizations which are mandated by GS1 to administer the GS1 System at national or regional level and act as GS1’s official representative in their respective country or region. There can be only one GS1 representative per country or region.

GS1 has granted to GS1 RUS the right to use GS1 trademarks. With the exception of GS1 RUS, no other party in the Russian Federation may copy or reproduce in any form any part of GS1 publications without the express permission of GS1.

GS1 RUS is the sole GS1 Member Organization in the Russian Federation and is the only official source for GS1 identification numbers and standards. The GS1 identification numbers allocated to companies by GS1 RUS begin with the prefixes from 460 through 469 inclusive. GS1 RUS allocates identification numbers called GS1 Identification Keys only to legal entities registered in the Russian Federation.

The communication language in GS1 RUS is Russian.
